Salary Range: $27,248.75-47,685.32

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) oversees the day-to-day operation of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD).

The Accounting Office is responsible for processing payments for goods and services purchased by the agency. It is also responsible for travel reimbursements as well as reconciling purchasing card transactions.

We currently have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an Accountant 1 in the CFO’s Office.

Responsibilities include:

·       Analyzing financial information and preparing reports to document records for agency.

·       Maintaining records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, or other financial activities.

             ·  Processing payments for travel.

A typical workday may include but is not limited to the following activities:

·  Process PO vouchers in PeopleSoft.

·  Process non-PO related vouchers.

·  Process daily check run

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor's degree in a business curriculum which included completion of introductory and intermediate accounting sequence. Note: Some positions may require certifications.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

1. Experience working in a State of Georgia agency.

2. One year of experience using PeopleSoft Financials, specifically Accounts Payable.
