Salary Range: $29,973.63- $52,453.85

Public Information Office: The Public Information Office (PIO) provides research and clearance for media inquiries and interview requests for the Georgia State Patrol, Motor Carrier Compliance Division, and Capitol Police; manages the department’s social media accounts and web site; and is responsible for producing department publications and special projects support, including graphic design.

Overview of the Graphic Designer Position: The Graphic Designer will assist PIO in achieving its communications goals by using his/her knowledge and proficiency with graphic design programs to produce visually creative printed, electronic, and digital communications for websites, publications, social media, etc.  The graphic designer will assist in cultivating and refining the brand and image of the department.  The graphic designer’s duties may also include photography and videography. This position will also support the recruiting efforts of the department and will work closely with the Recruiting Unit on major projects, including but not limited to marketing collateral, advertisements, posters, flyers, brochures, etc. There may also be some travel under the direct supervision of the PIO Director.

Entry Qualifications: Associate's degree from an accredited college or university OR Vocational/Technical degree in graphic arts, applied arts, commercial art, fine arts or a related field from an accredited college OR three years of professional related experience or equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in word processing, graphic design, photo and video editing, with experience using: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, and After Effects).

  • Design skills – web, print, illustration, typography, layout, and productions.

  • Have a strong technical aptitude with the ability to quickly learn new software and hardware.

  • Excellent inter-personal skills. Ability to interface with co-workers and management.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as co-operatively with others in a team or group environment and to establish, build and maintain positive relationships to ensure deadlines and objectives are met.

  • Acts ethically and with integrity to maintain trust in working environment, specifically state government.

  • Be detail and customer oriented with good multitasking and organizational ability.
