Ten people died in traffic crashes across Georgia over the 78-hour Labor Day holiday travel period. The holiday count began Friday at 6 p.m. and ended at midnight Monday.
Traffic fatalities were reported by Cobb County Police, Gwinnett County Police, Henry County Police, GSP Douglas, GSP Toccoa, GSP Valdosta, two from GSP Cartersville, and two from GSP Madison.
There were eight fatal crashes.
During the holiday period, the Georgia State Patrol investigated 373 traffic crashes which resulted in 230 injuries. State troopers investigated five of the eight fatal crashes reported across the state.
In the area of enforcement, troopers arrested 240 people during the holiday period for driving under the influence. Troopers also issued 983 citations for seat belt violations and recovered six stolen vehicles.
