Update:  INTERSTATE ABANDONED VEHICLES

Vehicles that remained on Atlanta interstates (emergency lanes, gores, and ramps – any portion of the interstate that is paved) are being towed overnight to clear travel and emergency lanes for the Friday morning commute.

Drivers of vehicles towed may call 5-1-1 for assistance in locating their vehicle.  A Georgia State Trooper has been assigned to assist 5-1-1 operators in locating vehicles that were towed at the request of Georgia State Troopers and Motor Carrier Compliance officers Thursday night.

The impounds were along the following routes:

  • I-285 (All)
  • All interstates inside I-285
  • Langford Parkway (GA 166) from I-75 – I-285
  • GA 400 from I-85 to the Forsyth County line
  • I-20 to Six Flags hill
  • I-75 to I-575

Drivers are reminded of Georgia’s Move Over Law that requires drivers to move over one lane when approaching an emergency vehicle with its emergency lights activated, or slow down well below the posted speed limit.
