15 People Killed in Weekend Traffic Crashes

Traffic crashes across Georgia over the 78-hour Memorial Day holiday weekend claimed the lives of 15 people.  The holiday period began Friday at 6 p.m. and ended at midnight Memorial Day.

The Georgia State Patrol investigated 332 traffic crashes that resulted in 196 injuries and 6 fatalities during the weekend.  State troopers also arrested 282 people for driving under the influence.

There were 14 fatal crashes reported during the period with two people killed in a crash in Houston County.

The July Fourth holiday period will be a 30-hour period that begins Tuesday, July 3 at 6 p.m. and ends at midnight July Fourth.
