Fatal Crash Update: I-75 in Bartow County

The Georgia State Partrol was called to the fatal incident Wednesday morning at 1:50 on I-75 at mile marker 296.

Upon arrival, the trooper found two tractor trailers involved with three fatalities.

A northbound tractor trailer being driven by George Benjamin White, age 43, from Hiram, GA left the roadway on the left shoulder, struck a guardrail, then hit a concrete pillar support for an overhead sign structure on the southbound side. The truck then rolled onto its side and caught fire.

The sign structure fell and was hit by a southbound tractor trailer driven by Hugh Bruce Duling III, age 58, from Powder Springs. The driver lost control and the vehicle left the roadway, traveling down an embankment.

Both truck drivers and a passenger in the first truck - Jermaine Duriel Smith, age 36, from Douglasville were killed.
