Motor Carrier Compliance Division Participates in Joint Agency Strike Force Operation

ATLANTA—Officers from Region 3 of the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD) participated in a Joint Agency Strike Force Operation on April 27-May 1 at the cargo terminals at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta. Other agencies participating were the Transportation Security Administration, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Federal Aviation Administration, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and the Atlanta Police Department.

During the operation, MCCD officers conducted 56 safety inspections that resulted in 26 violations, including eight uniform traffic citations, one overweight assessment citation, and nine warnings. There were also five vehicles placed out of service and one vehicle towed.

MCCD is responsible for conducting safety inspections on commercial motor vehicles, inspecting highway shipments of hazardous materials, and performing compliance reviews on motor carriers.

Region 3 MCCD officers are responsible for patrolling Carroll, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, DeKalb, Clayton, Henry, Rockdale, and Newton counties.
