Amber Light Permit

Until June 30, 2024, the state of Georgia will continue to require a permit for the use of amber flashing or revolving lights on vehicles. The Amber Light Permit document listed below includes the permit application and some brief guidelines for completing an application to use amber lights.  The Official Code of Georgia Annotated (40-8-90 through 96) prescribes the conditions of this certification.  Department of Public Safety Rules and Regulations 570-11-.01 through .014 prescribes guidelines for completing an application for the use of emergency lights. A copy of House Bill 1193, which goes into effect on July 1, 2024, is also provided below.
