General FAQs

  • I received a call last night from someone wanting money to help the Georgia State Patrol. What is the money used for?

The Georgia State Patrol does not telemarket or solicit donations by mail or telephone.  There are several private organizations that solicit via telephone and mail but any money donated stays with that organization and does not go to the Georgia State Patrol.  All funding for the Georgia Department of Public Safety and the Georgia State Patrol is appropriated by the Georgia General Assembly.

  • How do I renew my tag or title?

The Department of Revenue's Motor Vehicle Division handles all issues concerning tags and titles.  For more information, please visit the following link motor.etax.dor.ga.gov/Tag_and_Title.aspx or call (404) 362-6500.

  • How much is my speeding ticket?

Fines for traffic citations issued by the Georgia State Patrol are set by the local courts.  State Troopers do not set the fines and do not collect traffic fines.  For the amount of the fine and information on how to answer the citation, contact the county court listed on the traffic citation.
