Job Responsibilities:
The Georgia Open Records Act opens to public inspection records maintained by most governmental bodies and agencies or private companies carrying out governmental functions. In general, all records, in whatever form maintained, including books, maps, tapes, photographs, and computer-based information, which are prepared and maintained or which are received in the course of operation of a public office or agency are defined as public records. All public records are open to the general public and subject to personal inspection, and copying, at a reasonable time and place.
The Department of Public Safety, in the interest of compliance with the Georgia Open Records Act, created the Open Records Unit within the Legal Services Division. The Open Records Unit exists to provide prompt, courteous, high-quality customer service to individuals seeking access to government records pursuant to the law. The Open Records Unit presents a deadline oriented, professional and fast-paced working environment
The Open Records Unit presently seeks to fill a Admin Support 2 vacancy. The Admin Support 2 serves as the primary point of contact with internal and external customers of the Open Records Unit. Applicants must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications, specifically including intermediate to advanced level proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook.
This position provides for a healthy work/home life balance with working hours of 8:00am through 4:30pm, Monday – Friday.
A typical day will include:
Answers telephone and give information to callers, take messages, or transfers calls to appropriate individuals.
Opens, reads, routes, and distributes incoming mail and other materials.
Maintains and updates filing, mailing, and database systems either manually or using a computer.
Enters data, maintains files, and labels/distributes work files.
Completes forms in accordance with organizational procedures.
Composes, types, and distributes meeting notes, routine correspondence, and reports.
Maintains supplies and/or stock items.
Maintains confidential information.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED AND Two years of general office or administrative experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two to three years of prior office experience.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
