Salary minimum: $40,982.94
The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) oversees the day-to-day operation of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). We currently have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Fleet Services Manager in the Administrative Services Division.
Aligned with the Garage, the Vehicle Support Services section maintains a computerized information system that provides costs, utilization's and management information on all vehicles owned by the Georgia Department of Public Safety. Vehicle Support Services also handles claims for repairs to departmental vehicles involved in crashes, and orders departmental vehicle tags, titles and fuel cards. This section is also responsible for the DPS Government Sales Program where DPS vehicles that have been retired from service and are deemed to meet a fair, good, or excellent standard are offered to other law enforcement and publicly funded agencies. DPS vehicles that do not sell are publicly auctioned along with other DPS vehicles meeting a less than fair condition standard and those that are inoperable due to mechanical failure or accident damage.

A typical workday includes, but is not limited to:
o Oversees all facets of an agency/institution motor pool.
o Coordinates the assignment, maintenance and replacement of vehicles in a fleet program.
o Supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff.
o Oversees the logistical movement of vehicles throughout the state.
- Coordinates the scheduling to serve the needs of the agency.
- Responds to questions concerning policies and procedures.
- Ensures the receiving and dispersal of new equipment, the removal of surplus equipment and transfer of vehicles within agency guidelines.
- Maintains fleet program records and vehicle records relating to maintenance, operation and costs.
- Supervises and plans the work of assigned staff.
- Works closely with the Executive Officer of Administrative Services executing/preparing budgets.
- Maintains working relationship with other agencies fleet services managers.
- Stay abreast of trends/best practices in the fleet service industry.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of experience managing professional level staff OR Six years of related professional experience AND Two years managing professional level staff. Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
· State purchasing knowledge and experience.
· Knowledge of state Vehicle Sales Program.
· Working knowledge of DOAS Fleet rules and regulations.
