Advertised Salary: $22,519.63-$38,283.37

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) oversees the day-to-day operation of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). We currently have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Property Supply Manager 1 in the Supply Unit of the Administrative Services Division.

The Supply Unit is responsible for shipping, receiving and maintaining law enforcement equipment and supplies, including uniform clothing, weapons and accessories. Office and janitorial supplies are also stocked. Supply fills all requisitions and ships to specified locations. They also administer a yearly count of all items to affirm an accurate inventory, which is maintained by the Supply Inventory Unit.

A typical workday includes, but is not limited to:

 

  • Processing DPS forms: make changes and/or update equipment location and/or user in the statewide computerized system Peoplesoft.
  • Receiving and storing surplus equipment, including manual lifting of boxes and other items. Determine the condition of received equipment to be either stored, re-distributed, sold, transferred or disposed. Maintaining an organized warehouse of reusable furniture and equipment.
  • Preparing equipment that has been deemed surplus to be picked up. Collecting and compiling a list of information such as description, Department decal numbers and serial numbers. Palletizing items submitting information to DOAS using the statewide system AssetWorks.
  • Retiring surplus equipment from PeopleSoft once items have been picked up.
  • Interacting and providing positive customer service to members of the Department.
  • Providing approved donations of new equipment to the Department from outside agencies. Which includes sending the receiving location decals to place on the donated equipment and manually adding equipment to PeopleSoft.
  • Maintaining an organized filing system.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university OR Two years of experience in materials management OR One year of experience at the lower level Purchasing Asst 1 (FET040) or position equivalent.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to manually lift boxes and other items of equipment.
  • Experience and knowledge of inventory control methods.
  • Ability to maintain organization of inventory and equipment utilizing computer software.
