Multi-Jurisdictional Taskforces

Fugitive/Drug Squads

The intent of the Fugitive Squad is to reduce the incidents of violent crimes and narcotic possessions and distribution, associated with felons who have no other recourse, but to prey on the honest citizens of Georgia in order to support their fugitive status.

HIDTA

This intelligence unit is responsible for collecting data related to drug interdiction efforts, assisting with asset forfeiture procedures, and maintaining internal databases related to these activities. This unit is a consolidated effort of multiple state law enforcement agencies. There are three Troopers assigned to this unit.

Social Security Investigations

This taskforce relies on combined skills and specialized knowledge of OIG, SSA, State Stability Determination Services, and State or local law enforcement personnel to combat disability fraud in their respective areas. The SSI unit achieves this goal by obtaining evidence of material fact sufficient to resolve questions of fraud in individual disability applications and identifying lawyers, doctors, translators, or other third parties that facilitate disability fraud. The results of investigations are presented to the US Attorney's Office for consideration of prosecution and to the State DDS for their use in making timely and accurate disability determinations.

Regional K-9 Unit

The Georgia State Patrol has one sworn member detached to this taskforce. The responsibility of that member is to act as the administrator of the task force. All other personnel of this task force are detached from other law enforcement agencies. The dogs used on this task force assist in intercepting narcotics throughout the State.
