Working Title: Intergovernmental Liaison Director

Comptroller’s Division- Headquarters

Pay Grade – 19

Salary Range:  $47,280 - $85,000


Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Conducts critical analysis research, develops or modifies policy and strategic plans, and implements, evaluates programs in an assigned specialty area.  Analyzes proposed legislation to determine to determine potential effects on the assigned department or program area(s).  Prepares reports and presentations, and works with other governmental entities and management to develop or implement programs in a manner that addresses division/department strategies. 

This position will serve as the lead liaison on all Departmental projects involving finance and revenue for DPS. In addition, this position will assist the Comptroller in tracking the budget and any legislation which has a financial impact on DPS through attendance at legislative committee meetings for Public Safety, Homeland Security and similar committees with relevant proposed legislation.

Job Responsibilities :

1. Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision

2. Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas

3. Coordinates project activities and perform research, evaluation and analysis of operational issues that primarily involve interaction with other state and/or local governmental entities.

4. Reviews and coordinates budgetary and/or legislative efforts to support development of plans and strategies   during the Georgia legislative session.

5. Develops standards and procedures to be used in project development and implementation

6. Oversees and participates in policy, procedure, and processes development

7. May supervise support staff or lower level employees

8. Participates in development of long-term plans, programs, and strategy

9. Plans, develops, implements and maintains a system designed to coordinate and provide continuous and systematic evaluations for programs or initiatives

10. Serves on development teams, proposes drafts, and/or reviews current policies to recommend changes  


Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of 90 quarter hours (60 sem hrs) at an accredited college or university AND Four years of related experience OR Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university AND Two years of related experience OR Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university OR Two years of experience at the lower level or position equivalent Note: Experience in a related area may substitute for degree on a year by year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a budget and/or analyst position that involved tracking Budget and/or legislative activity for a Criminal Justice or public safety policy area at the Georgia Legislature.

Prior experience as a Policy and Development Specialist or a similar position.
