Georgia State Patrol - Communications Equipment Officer Testing Schedule
The Communications Equipment Officer exam is a "walk-in" test, which is given the third Wednesday of every month at 8:30 AM at the Georgia Merit System Testing Center (Room 404 West Tower, Floyd Building-across from the State Capitol in Atlanta). For directions to the testing center, call 404-656-2724 and press 1, then 3. You may also request an application be mailed to you from this number.
To make necessary prior arrangements for testing accommodations because of a disability, please call 404-656-2728.
Please arrive no later than fifteen (15) minutes prior to the testing session for check-in.
Bring the following items to the testing site:
- Current Photo ID
- Any Veteran's preference documents you wish to submit
- Completed application with social security number written on the top (Make a copy of your application to submit when you receive a pre-employment background packet from Georgia State Patrol)
Upon successfully passing the Communications Equipment Officer written exam, you will be mailed a pre-employment background packet. It is suggested to begin obtaining this information immediately, because it may take some time to receive transcripts from your high school, college or vocational/ technical school. The following documents are required to complete the background packet. Before submitting your packet, you must have ALL of the required documents. An incomplete packet may result in a delay and/or disqualification from the hiring process.
- Copy of Valid Driver's license/photo ID
- Certified Copy of your birth certificate
- Certified Copy of Certification of Naturalization (if you are a Naturalized Citizen)
- Certified Copy of court orders authorizing any name change
- Official Grade Transcripts from: high school, college, vocational/technical
- Photocopy of P.O.S.T. certification (if currently certified)
- Photocopy of DD-214 for each period of Military Service (must be Member-4 copy showing lines 23-30 regarding separation and discharge information)
- Photocopy of Selective Service Registration Card if you are a male applicant between 18 and 26 years of age. (Proof may be obtained online from the Selective Service System Website at www4.sss.gov/regver/verification1.asp or at the Selective Service Automated Line telephone number (847) 688-6888)
- A recent Full-Length Photograph
- Ten (10) references and/or acquaintances, including addresses and telephone numbers
- Ten (10) years of residential history
- Work history from high school to present
- Checking and Savings account numbers, including balances
- Account numbers of indebted accounts, including balances and monthly payments
If you wish to have items #2, #3, #4 or #7 returned, please send a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your background packet. Items #5, #6, #8 and #9 will not be returned.
