The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) oversees the day-to-day operation of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police Division (CPD) and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). We currently have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Business Support Analyst 2 in the Administrative Services Division.

 

Aligned with the Garage, the Vehicle Support Services section maintains a computerized information system that provides costs, utilization's and management information on all vehicles owned by the Georgia Department of Public Safety.  Vehicle Support Services also handles claims for repairs to departmental vehicles involved in crashes, and orders departmental vehicle tags, titles and fuel cards. This section is also responsible for the DPS Government Sales Program where DPS vehicles that have been retired from service and are deemed to meet a fair, good, or excellent standard are offered to other law enforcement and publicly funded agencies.  DPS vehicles that do not sell are publicly auctioned along with other DPS vehicles meeting a less than fair condition standard and those that are inoperable due to mechanical failure or accident damage.

 

Critical Responsibilities:

Performs data analysis on current operations of a project, program, agency or function. Conducts organizational studies and evaluations, designs systems and procedures, conducts work simplifications and measurement studies, and recommends regulations to assist management in operating more efficiently and effectively.

A typical workday includes, but is not limited to:

§  Collects, compiles, and analyzes programmatic and operational data. Investigates and documents underlying    

        trends, irregularities and possible cause for changes in data.

§  Creates and maintains databases of requests or statistical data for future reference.

§  Develops and applies time and cost networks to plans and projects.

§  Documents underlying trends, irregularities and possible cause for change in data.

§  Evaluates data for quality and completeness.

§  Performs validation and testing of plan to ensure adequacy.

§  Prepares reports and makes recommendations or determination based on analysis.

§  Responds to routine requests for data.

§  Creates and maintains a high performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a strong team orientation. 

 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of experience related to area of assignment. Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.

 

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

§  Advanced experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Access.

§  Experience providing reports based on statistical data.

§  Experience providing technical training and project planning.

§  Experience conducting record audits.
