The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) oversees the day-to-day operation of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). The mission of the Department is to work cooperatively with all levels of government to provide a safe environment for residents and visitors to our state.

The Human Resources Division is accepting applications for the position of HR Tech 1. The HR Tech 1 plays a key role in Human Resources. This position is responsible for entering  and processing transactions, and compiling and filing employment reports. Duties also include researching and furnishing information to authorized persons. This is a key support role to the employees of the department and outside organizations requiring assistance.

The primary functions of the HR Tech 1 are:

  • Completes employment entry processes for new employees.

  • Coordinates hiring processes, ensuring all required forms are completed and all clearances are obtained.

  • Provides information to agency staff regarding transactions or other personnel related issues.

  • Reviews and processes personnel and/or position transactions.

This position provides for a healthy work/home life balance with working hours of 8:00 am through 4:30 pm Monday thru Friday.

The selected applicant must successfully complete the pre-employment process which includes:

  • Background Review

  • Polygraph Exam

Minimum Training & Experience: High school diploma or GED AND Six months of experience performing human resources related functions OR High school diploma or GED AND One year of post-secondary education at an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year experience in Human Resources

  • Prior experience with PeopleSoft HCM 

  • Proficiency in the utilization of computer technology software
