Location: Capitol Police Division – Atlanta (Fulton County)

Salary: $23, 090.70

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) oversees the day-to-day operation of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). We currently have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for Safety Officers with the Capitol Police Division.

The Capitol Square Security Unit is staffed by non-sworn (Uniformed) Safety Officers who provide general security to Capitol Square; monitors entrances into these buildings by checking all State employees, guests and other personnel for valid identification; screens all incoming packages, deliveries and mail. This unit also provides general security to elected officials, government employees and visitors to the Capitol Hill area.

A typical day would include:

Answers alarms and investigates disturbances

Escorts or drives motor vehicle to transport individuals to specified locations and to provide personal protection

Inspects assigned area for fire or environmental hazards

Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against and maintain security of premises

Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities

Entry Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous working experience in a safety monitoring environment or in a related field.
