Salary Range: $50,982.94 - $81,720.15
The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) oversees the day-to-day operation of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD).
We currently have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Telecommunications Specialist Supervisor in the Communications Division of the Administrative Services Division. Primary duties will be performed in the Radio Shop at headquarters, however for some workdays duties may be required statewide.
The Communications Division is responsible for providing statewide two-way radio communications; where they install, troubleshoot, and repair radio and mobile camera equipment. Coordinating Tower Projects and repairs, Radio Programming, Assisting DPS and 911 Communication Centers, field programming of equipment, assisting other Agencies with radio communication.

A typical workday includes, but is not limited to:
- Supervision, training, and career development of the communications specialists assigned to the headquarters radio shop.
- Supervision of communications specialists performing the installation, repair, and planning of telephone, radio, data, video and voice and data processing telecommunications systems.
- Maintains inventory of all radio equipment and supplies at the radio shop.
- Performs work involved in developing, refining, and complying with telecommunications systems planning.
- Plans, manages, and monitors the operation of communications systems.
- Researches and develops specifications for systems design, wiring plans and installation.
- Receives additional training, as required, to gain full proficiency and experience in all areas.
Selected applicant must pass a pre-employment background investigation. This includes a review of criminal, driver’s and credit history. No polygraph examination is required for this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Three years of related experience, One year of which in a supervisory or lead role OR Associate's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Five years of experience, Two years of which in a supervisory or lead role OR One year of experience at the lower level Telecommunications Spec 4 (ITP073) or position equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must have or obtain either CDL Class B or Non CDL Class F license within 1 year.
- One year of experience in programming, installation and troubleshooting statewide land mobile radio (LMR) systems and equipment, to include radio gateway devices.
