MCCD - Testing

TESTING INFORMATION FOR DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, MOTOR CARRIER COMPLIANCE DIVISION CADET

Written testing is available on a walk-in basis (first come, first serve) in Atlanta only.  Test are given every second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 8:30 a.m.  Please bring a completed State of Georgia Application for Employment (you will need to list Job Code 17805 on the application) to the testing session.  They are available on the website www.gms.state.ga.us/jobinfo/stgaapps.htm or by calling 404-657-1164.

Testing site is located in the GeorgiaMeritSystemTestingCenter, Room 404 West Tower Building across from the State Capitol.  You will not need to make an appointment.  You should not submit an application in advance.  Please arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to the session check in.  For directions to the testing site call 404-656-2724, press 1 then 3.  A current photo ID and any veteran’s documents you wish to submit; as well as a completed application will be required.  This schedule does not apply on State holidays.

Written tests are offered on certain Saturdays in selected cities.  If you request a scheduled examination you must submit a written request to the Georgia Merit System, P.O. Box 347100, Atlanta, Georgia 30334.  You will receive an admission slip by mail for the next available test session showing the address of the testing center you have chosen and the date and time of your appointment.  This may take a month or longer due to limited seating.

Your test score will remain on the Merit Register for six months.  You may extend your score for an additional six months by calling, 404-656-2728.  You can apply to retake the written test three times in one year, with a minimum 30-day waiting period between examinations.
