Corporal Black was shot and killed during a traffic stop on GA 41 near Ringgold. After his death, Corporal Black was promoted to the rank of sergeant by then commissioner Lon Sullivan; “in testimony of his tireless efforts on behalf of safety of human beings on streets and highways and his valiant courage in fulfilling his oath to enforce the laws of the Commonwealth of Georgia.” |
