The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) oversees the day-to-day operation of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police Division (CPD) and the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVE). We currently have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Business Support Analyst 1 in the Finance Division.
This position plays a critical role in supporting the Accounting team with financial, system, and process-related functions. The ideal candidate will combine strong administrative capabilities with foundational accounting knowledge, analytical skills, and the ability to serve as a systems liaison during the transition to Workday (GA@Work). This position is perfect for candidates who seek a challenging opportunity to serve the citizens of Georgia while providing critical support to the sworn officers within the department. Critical Responsibilities:
Under supervision, performs complex administrative duties and statistical, financial, or operational data analysis and reporting in support of management decision making in functional area. Identifies trends, discrepancies, and variances to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations. May partner with other departments, divisions, outside agencies, and vendors to address business issues. Exercises various latitudes of independent judgment. May administer or provide high level support for various projects, grants, contracts, implementation of procedures, and/or any specialized functions.
Accounting & Financial Support:
- Assist with timesheet processing and analysis using the LAS system for payroll support.
- Support monthly and year-end financial closings through preparation and validation of financial data.
- Reconcile accounts and verify transactions as directed by Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Create and receipt annual agency-wide requisitions and ensure timely submission and tracking.
Workday System Implementation Support:
- Serve as a first-line responder for end-user issues related to Workday, including login assistance, password resets, and multi-factor authentication support.
- Provide real-time troubleshooting to minimize disruption across departments during system launch and stabilization.
- Offer one-on-one support and brief training sessions to users navigating the new requisition workflows in Workday.
- Assist in understanding approval processes and collaborate with Procurement to support accurate and timely requisition submissions.
Operational Coordination:
- Act as a liaison between Accounting, Procurement, HR, and IT divisions to streamline operational workflows and address cross-departmental issues.
- Maintain and document standard procedures related to system use and support tasks to enhance future onboarding and training.
- Continuously assess opportunities to improve efficiency and support services provided by the Accounting Department.
Desired Skills & Competencies:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to assist non-technical users.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and support others in doing the same.
- High attention to detail, time management, and ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience related to area of assignment. Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Advanced experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
- Experience providing reports based and conducting record audits.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to assist non-technical users.
- Training Experience to be able to deliver material to first time users, develop training material and training plans.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and support others in doing the same.
- High attention to detail, time management, and ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
