Advertised Salary: $22,000.00 - 32,000.00
The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) oversees the day-to-day operation of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). We currently have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Maintenance Technician in the Maintenance Unit of the Administrative Services Division.
The Maintenance Unit is responsible for coordinating major repairs and maintenance projects for all departmental facilities. This includes DPS Headquarters, 50 State Patrol Posts, 10 Motor Carrier Compliance Division Regions, Aviation, and Capitol Police as well as various specialty units and administratively attached agencies. The division also oversees the planning and construction of new facilities; including maintaining liaisons with local governments, architects, engineers, contractors and other state agencies involved in facility construction and management.

A typical workday includes, but is not limited to:
Performs basic and skilled painting, carpentry and roofing tasks
Repairs and performs maintenance on plumbing fixtures, lighting, air vents and air conditioning units
Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines are operating smoothly and efficiently
Performs general maintenance and repair work on facilities and equipment
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED AND two years of experience in building repairs and maintenance or in the specific area of assignment OR One year of experience at the lower level or position equivalent (FET030) Note: some positions may require area specific certifications/licenses.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Certifications in heating and air are preferred
