Location: Department of Public Safety- Headquarters- Atlanta (Fulton County)
Pay Grade – F Job Code –FET060
Salary minimum: $28,000-32,000
The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) oversees the day-to-day operation of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). We currently have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an Emergency Vehicle Technician 1 in the Garage of the Administrative Services Division.
DPS operates a full service garage operation at its headquarters location in Atlanta. The Garage procures and outfits for use all Georgia State Patrol vehicles. Vehicle identification markings, blue lights, communications and other specialized law enforcement equipment are installed by the Garage. Vehicle repairs are either handled in-house or contracted out to private sources. A parts department is maintained and the Garage also handles vehicle surplus and a wrecker service.

A typical workday includes, but is not limited to:
Installation of light bars, partitions, push- bumpers, decals, and consoles on new vehicles.
Inspects completed work for conformity to specifications.
Insures that parts for installation or maintenance meet required standards.
Performs maintenance and repair to emergency equipment.
Removal of emergency equipment (surplus)
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's/Vocational/Technical degree in area of assignment from an accredited college or university OR One year of experience in area of assignment. Note: Some positions may require specific licensure.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Law Enforcement Vehicle Technician
12 months experience in Emergency Vehicle Up fitting
The ability to troubleshoot Advanced Electrical Systems and make necessary repairs.
Experience in the installation of Vehicle Graphics/ Wraps, Window tinting (Professional Standard), and truck accessories.
Familiar with 12 Volt electronics and the installation of aftermarket equipment.
Knowledge in 12 volt electrical systems.
