(FORSYTH, GA) - The Georgia Department of Public Safety Motor Carrier Compliance Division held graduation ceremonies for its 5th and 6th Motor Carrier Schools on Friday, January 15, at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) in Forsyth.  The 5th Motor Carrier School officially graduated on March 30, 2020, but a traditional graduation ceremony was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
After 24 weeks of intense training, the four members of the 6th Motor Carrier School will report to one of the 10 Regions throughout the state.  Governor Brian P. Kemp was the keynote speaker and issued the Oath of Office.  Additionally, remarks were given by Colonel Chris Wright, Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety (DPS), and Lt. Andrew Montgomery, MCCD Training Coordinator. 

5th MCO School

  • Driving Proficiency – Officer Tucker Porter
  • Highest Academic Average – Officer Christopher Gammon

6th MCO School

  • Driving Proficiency – Officer Michael Smith  
  • Firearms Proficiency – Officer Michael Smith
  • Highest Academic Average – Officer Erin Johnson
  • Top Gun – Officer Michael Smith

Officers Gammon and Johnson each received a $1,000 scholarship towards a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Reinhardt University for having the highest academic average in his class.
 
Additionally, the following graduates were recognized for their leadership:
 
5th: Officer Christopher Gammon, President; Officer Justin Price, Treasurer; Officer Timothy Shafer, Chaplain; and Officer Brandon Lumley, Pennant Bearer.
  
6th: Officer Brandon Brown, President; Officer Kolby Lynch, Chaplin/Treasurer; Officer Brandon Brown, Sergeant-at-Arms; and Officer Erin Johnson, Pennant Bearer.

Each commissioned Officer of the 6th MCO School will report to the following assigned Region:
