The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) oversees the day-to-day operation of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). We currently have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for Admin Assistant 2 at Fleet Services- Headquarters Atlanta, GA.

This position is perfect for candidates who seek a challenging opportunity to serve the citizens of Georgia while providing critical administrative support to Troopers and other department personnel. Under the supervision of the Director of Administrative Services, the Admin Asst 2 performs a wide range of administrative and office support activities to help ensure that the DPS Fleet is running smoothly and efficiently.

 

A typical workday includes, but is not limited to:

 

1. Serving as the receptionist for the DPS Garage includes answering and transferring incoming calls appropriately and/or taking messages, greeting visitors, and directing them to proper locations.

2. Creating vehicle repair work orders and ensuring that vehicles are delivered to the appropriate work area.

3. Scheduling appointments and maintaining calendar of activities, meetings and various events as requested by Supervisor.

4. Assist with the intake / receiving of new vehicles from dealer, assigning vehicle permanent numbers and ensure all paperwork is sent to Administration.

5. Monitoring the use of shop supplies and requesting purchase orders as needed.

 

Required Personal Characteristics:

1.           Excellent communication skills.

2.           Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize tasks and assignments.

3.           Strong commitment to providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.

The Selected applicant must pass a pre-employment background investigation. This includes a review of criminal, driver, and credit history.

No polygraph examination is required for this position.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of job-related experience; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Admin Assistant 1 (GST050) or position equivalent.  

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Candidate must possess strong communication skills with a positive, goal-driven attitude.

2. Ability to thrive in a multifaceted work environment.

3. Experience in the use of Microsoft Excel & Word.

4. Ability to organize and maintain vehicle data.

5. Previous work experience as a receptionist.
