Pay Grade – G     Job Code –ETT051

Salary minimum: $24,771.59

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) oversees the day-to-day operation of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). We currently have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an Electronics Tech 2 in the Garage of the Administrative Services Division.

DPS operates a full service garage operation at its headquarters location in Atlanta. The Garage procures and outfits for use all Georgia State Patrol vehicles. Vehicle identification markings, blue lights, communications and other specialized law enforcement equipment are installed by the Garage. Vehicle repairs are either handled in-house or contracted out to private sources. A parts department is maintained and the Garage also handles vehicle surplus and a wrecker service.

A typical workday includes, but is not limited to:

1.     Assembles, tests and maintains circuitry or electronic components.

2.     Develops or modifies electronic and technical equipment/applications.

3.     Installs and maintains electronic equipment on law enforcement vehicles.

4.     Tests electronic units, using standard tests and equipment and analyzes results.

      5.   Utilizes diagnostic tools to resolve equipment malfunctions and technical problems.

Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of a bachelor's degree AND One year of experience in the installation, repair, and development of equipment OR Completion of a technical/school program in electronics or in a specialized related area Note: Some positions require a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Familiarity with Public Safety Equipment

2. Knowledge of installation practices for various vendor’s products and vehicles receiving them.

3. One year Electronic Installation Job Experience.
