The Open Records Unit presently seeks to fill a Customer Service Representative 2 vacancy.  The Customer Service Representative serves as a primary point of contact with internal and external customers of the MCCD Administration office. The incumbent also collects information for requests of hazmat permits, and prepares permits for delivery to the requesting company.  Incumbents in the Customer Service Representative classification maintain appropriate files and database applications required in the performance of their duties, and perform other administrative functions as required.

This position is perfect for candidates who seek a challenging opportunity to serve the citizens of Georgia while providing critical administrative assistance for the Motor Carrier Compliance Department. Under the supervision of the Admin Supervisor, the Customer Service Representative 2 performs a wide range of administrative and office support activities to help ensure the unit is running smoothly and efficiently.

A typical workday includes, but is not limited to:

  • Providing administrative support to the MCCD Department. Preparing a variety of correspondence, reports and forms. Establishing, maintaining and overseeing the hazmat permits filing system for temporary and annual permits. Completing Hazmat application requests and send to customers. Composing correspondence to permit holders and Datacom.

  • Monthly Reports

  • Performing receptionist role for the Admin Assistant Supervisor to include answering and transferring incoming calls appropriately and/or taking messages, greeting visitors and directing to proper locations, providing general information to the public regarding Motor Carrier Compliance Department activities.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED AND completion of 90 quarter hours (60 semester hours) at an accredited college or university OR One year of experience in a customer service setting communicating information OR One year of experience required at the lower level Customer Svc Rep 1 (GST120) or position equivalent. 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in the use of the Internet; E-mail; Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access.

  • Successful experience providing administrative support for a unit that included dealing with issues, situations and documents of a sensitive and/or confidential nature.

  • Experience in an office setting with excellent customer service skills.
