(ATLANTA) – The Georgia Chapter of the National Black State Troopers Coalition (NBSTC) will host the 34th Annual Summer Training Conference & Membership Meeting in Atlanta, Aug. 6-11, at the Westin Buckhead Atlanta.  The conference will provide both active and retired state troopers from various states with personal enrichment and professional development skills through training, networking, and community service.  The Georgia Chapter consists of members from the Georgia State Patrol.

This year’s theme is “Yesterday’s Dream, Today’s Reality, and Tomorrow’s Destiny.”  On Wednesday, Aug. 7, at 9 a.m., NBSTC will host its Opening Ceremony and Prayer Breakfast where U.S. Congressman John Lewis, U.S. Representative, (GA) 5th District, will serve as the keynote speaker.  On Friday, Aug. 9, Justice Harold Melton, Georgia Supreme Court, will serve as the keynote speaker during the Dinner Banquet and Awards program.  In addition to the coalition’s training conference and membership meeting, members will participate in a community service event at 8 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Ronald W. Bridges Park in Union City.  Governor Brian Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp will host a dinner at the Governor’s Mansion.

“We look forward to welcoming the members of the National Black State Troopers Coalition to Georgia as they come together in Atlanta for their annual conference.  Attendees will not only receive training and have networking opportunities, but they will also leave a lasting imprint in the Metro Atlanta area through their community service project,” said Colonel Mark W. McDonough, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Safety. “The Georgia State Patrol is honored to partner with the Georgia Chapter in making this a most memorable event,” he added.

The NBSTC is the largest network of Black State Troopers in the world.  Their intent is to encourage membership to become active participants in every aspect of their state’s Highway Patrol, State Police, and law enforcement agencies.  They are involved in their communities, and exist to network, train, and serve their communities.
