(ATLANTA, GA) – On Thursday, June 3, at approximately 6:26 p.m., the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a domestic dispute at 10116 Buchanan Highway, Temple, GA.  The call was dispatched as a domestic dispute with shots fired.  Paulding County Sheriff’s deputies and a Georgia State Patrol trooper responded to the location.  After arriving to the residence, they encountered the suspect who was armed.  During the encounter, the suspect fired his weapon at law enforcement officers on scene. The deputies and trooper returned fire at the suspect.  The suspect retreated into the residence and after several hours, the suspect was discovered in the residence deceased.  Preliminary investigative findings show the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was not struck by any rounds from law enforcement.  The suspect was identified as Mr. Thomas Brian Buchanan, 41 years old.
