On Sunday, October 1, 2023, around 6:00 pm, Troopers from Post 16 Hazlehurst were requested by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office to assist with a barricaded gunman.  The Department of Public Safety (DPS) SWAT Team responded to the scene, where they located the subject, which resulted in shots being fired.
