Update on Coweta County Suspect-at-Large

(Coweta Co., GA) - Earlier this evening, December 20, 2024, two Georgia State Patrol Troopers were patrolling in the city of Grantville actively searching for the suspect when they saw an abandoned truck off the roadway. The Troopers walked up to the vehicle and observed the suspect laying across the bench seat of the truck with a gun laying across his chest. Troopers gave commands to the suspect to put the gun down and exit the vehicle. The suspect exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect has been identified as Mr. Ira Troy Williams, age 51 of Rockdale, GA.

During a pursuit on December 18, 2024, in Coweta County, Mr. Williams fired a weapon at law enforcement and fled in his vehicle. A Department of Public Safety K9 was struck by gunfire during the incident. Mr. Williams has been at large since fleeing the scene on foot.
