The Georgia State Patrol is hosting the Southeastern Trooper Softball Tournament supporting Toys for Tots. The tournament will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, September 9, at Laurel Park in Gainesville. The price of admission is one new, unwrapped toy.

Final July 4th Holiday Fatality Traffic Count
6 p.m. on Friday, July 1, to midnight on Monday, July 4, 2016
- On Saturday, June 25, 2016, at approximately 8:25 p.m., the Georgia State Patrol, along with Gainesville Police Department and Hall County Sheriff’s Office, were conducting an Operation Rolling Thunder road check with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
The July Fourth holiday travel period will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 1, and end at midnight on Monday. “State Troopers are preparing for full patrols during the peak travel times,” said Colonel Mark W. McDonough, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Safety.
The Georgia State Patrol is currently investigating a fatal crash on I-16 near MM 155 in Chatham County. Troopers were dispatched to the crash at approximately 5:55 a.m. The crash involved two passenger vehicles.
