State Troopers and Motor Carrier Officers Encourage Motorists to Drive Safely this Memorial Day Weekend

(ATLANTA) – The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is encouraging motorists traveling the roadways throughout the state or visiting Georgia’s beaches to practice safe driving habits this weekend.  This year’s Memorial Day holiday travel period will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 27, and end Monday, May 30, at midnight.  The travel period is 78 hours long.

Georgia State Patrol Graduates 111th Trooper School

(FORSYTH, GA) – The Georgia State Patrol graduated its 111th Trooper School on Friday, April 29, at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) in Forsyth.  After 32 weeks of intense training, 41 new troopers will report to one of the 52 patrol posts throughout the state.

Georgia State Patrol Graduates Its First Accelerated Trooper School

(FORSYTH) – The Georgia State Patrol graduated its 112th Trooper School on Friday, April 8, at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) in Forsyth.  After 13 weeks of intense training, 27 new troopers will report to one of the 52 patrol posts throughout the state to complete the field training phase. This Trooper School is the first accelerated school of the Georgia State Patrol consisting of all former law enforcement.

DPS Coordinates 43rd Wave of its Multi-Agency Crime Suppression and Street Racing Enforcement Detail

(ATLANTA, GA) – At the direction of Governor Brian Kemp, the Georgia Department of Public Safety coordinated the 43rd wave of its crime suppression and criminal street racing detail in Atlanta, over this past weekend, March 4-6.  This multi-agency detail included the Georgia State Patrol, Motor Carrier Compliance Division, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Department of Natural Resources, Department of Community Supervision, and the Atlanta Police Department.  This collaborative effort focused on specific areas in the city of Atlanta plagued by violent crimes and criminal street racing activity.

DPS Coordinates 40th Wave of its Multi-Agency Crime Suppression and Street Racing Enforcement Detail

(ATLANTA, GA) – Over this past weekend, Feb. 12-13, the Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) coordinated the 40th wave of its multi-agency crime suppression detail in Atlanta. The multi-agency detail includes the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD), Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Department of Community Supervision (DCS), Cobb County Police Department (CCPD), and the Atlanta Police Department (APD).

(FORSYTH) – The Georgia Department of Public Safety Motor Carrier Compliance Division held graduation ceremonies for its 7th Motor Carrier Officer (MCO) School on Friday, February 4, at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) in Forsyth.

MCCD Begins 100% Pull-Ins of Commercial Motor Vehicles Today in Preparation for Inclement Weather

(Atlanta) - The Department of Public Safety Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD) encourages Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs), including motor coaches and buses, to begin preparing for inclement weather expected as early as Sunday morning, January 16, in metro Atlanta and north Georgia counties.

Tis the Season to Practice Safe Driving Behavior this Christmas and New Year Holiday Period Declares State Troopers and Officers

(ATLANTA) – In an effort to reduce the number of crashes on Georgia roadways, Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Troopers and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD) Officers will be on high visibility patrols on interstates and state roads.  The Christmas travel period is 78-hours long, from 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 26. The 78-hour New Year’s holiday period will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, and end at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 2.
