DPS Coordinates 20th Wave of its Multi-Agency Crime Suppression and Street Racing Enforcement 

(ATLANTA, GA) – Over this past weekend, Sept. 11-12, the Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) coordinated the 20th wave of its multi-agency crime suppression detail in Atlanta. The multi-agency detail includes the Georgia State Patrol, Motor Carrier Compliance Division, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Department of Natural Resources, and Atlanta Police Department. 

DPS Appoints Capt. Thornell King to Major and Director of Capitol Police and GSP Post

(Atlanta, GA) – Today, September 1, 2021, Colonel Chris C. Wright, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Safety, appointed Captain Thornell “T.K.” King to serve as Major and Director of Capitol Police and Post 50.  Major King recently served as Captain/Commander of Troop I and has been a Georgia State Trooper for 27 years.  

State Troopers and Officers Emphasize the Importance of Safe Driving Habits during Labor Day Weekend

(Atlanta, GA) – The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD) will be on high-visibility during this 78-hour Labor Day holiday weekend encouraging motorists to practice safe driving habits as they travel throughout the state. The holiday travel period begins Friday, Sept. 3, at 6 p.m. and ends Monday, Sept. 6, at 11:59 p.m.

Georgia's Motor Carrier Compliance Officers Join Forces with other States in I-95 Operation Safe DRIVE

(Atlanta, GA) – Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD) will join forces with fellow law enforcement partners in Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee, as well as state and federal agencies, to conduct the second of three concentrated highway traffic enforcement periods, August 3-5, as part of Safe DRIVE. Safe DRIVE (Distracted Reckless Impaired Visibility Enforcement) efforts aim to eliminate commercial motor vehicle (CMV) traffic collisions through quarterly periods of concentrated patrols along the southeast I-95 corridor where 13 percent of the nation’s fatal CMV collisions occur. The first enforcement period took place June 22-24, and a subsequent enforcement period will take place this fall from October 5-7.

Motor Carrier Compliance Officers Encourage Commercial Drivers to Drive Safely

(ATLANTA, GA) – The Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD) of the Department of Public Safety (DPS) participated in SafeDRIVE, June 22-24, along with fellow law enforcement partners in South Carolina, Florida, and North Carolina, to conduct quarterly concentrated highway traffic enforcement along I-95, I-20, I-75, and I-85.

DPS Coordinates Ninth Wave of Multi-Agency Crime Suppression and Street Racing Enforcement

(ATLANTA, GA) – At the direction of Governor Brian Kemp, the Georgia Department of Public Safety coordinated the ninth wave of the multi-agency crime suppression and street racing enforcement detail this past weekend, June 25-27.  Governor Kemp continues to support the multi-agency efforts of the Georgia State Patrol, Motor Carrier Compliance Division, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Department of Natural Resources, and the Atlanta Police Department.
