DPS Coordinates 34th Wave of its Multi-Agency Crime Suppression and Street Racing Enforcement Detail

(ATLANTA, GA) – Over this past weekend, Dec. 17-19, the Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) coordinated the 34th wave of its multi-agency crime suppression detail in Atlanta. The multi-agency detail includes the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Motor Carrier Compliance Division, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Department of Natural Resources, Department of Community Supervision, and the Atlanta Police Department. 

State Troopers and Officers Encourage Safe Driving Behavior this Thanksgiving Holiday

(Atlanta, GA) - The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD) will be out in full force this upcoming Thanksgiving holiday travel period.  The 102-hour holiday travel period begins at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24, and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 28.

GSP Partners with Law Enforcement in Macon for Crime Suppression Enforcement Detail

(MACON, GA) – Over this past weekend, Nov. 12-14, the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Troop D and Aviation partnered with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Gang Task Force, and the U.S. Marshall's Bibb Office for a Crime Suppression Enforcement Detail in Macon. This is the second detail coordinated by GSP Troop D.

DPS Purchases 1,300 Automated External Defibrillators for All Patrol Vehicles

(ATLANTA, GA) – Colonel Chris Wright, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Safety recently authorized the purchase of 1,300 AED machines to be issued to every sworn member of the department and carried in their patrol vehicle.

MCCD Participates in Final Wave of SafeDRIVE

(ATLANTA, GA) – The Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD) of the Department of Public Safety (DPS) participated in the final wave of SafeDRIVE, October 5-7, along with fellow law enforcement partners in 13 states, to conduct quarterly concentrated highway traffic enforcement. SafeDRIVE (Distracted Reckless Impaired Visibility Enforcement) efforts aim to eliminate commercial motor vehicle (CMV) traffic collisions through periods of high visibility enforcement along I-95, I-75, and I-85.

DPS Receives H.E.A.T. Grant to Continue DUI Task Force and ALS Program

(ATLANTA) – The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) has awarded the Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) a Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic (H.E.A.T.) grant to continue its Nighthawks DUI Task Force and Administrative License Suspension (ALS) program. The approximately $3.4 million grant is effective October 1, 2021, through September 30, 2022.

Georgia State Patrol Graduates 110th Trooper School

(FORSYTH, GA) – The Georgia State Patrol graduated its 110th Trooper School on Friday, September 17, at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) in Forsyth.  After 32 weeks of intense training, and a three-week interruption due to a COVID outbreak, 34 new troopers will report to one of the 52 patrol posts throughout the state.
